Certified Coder

Under general supervision, reviews and audits medical records to ensure that the documentation contained in the medical records justifies the data billed on the encounters. Using established methodology, determines omissions and measures timeliness of encounter submissions. Provides verbal and written technical assistance and ongoing education to clinical staff in order to resolve identified errors.

Qualifications: Training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years experience auditing and/or monitoring healthcare records. Minimum of two years experience in claims processing required. ICD10, CPT, HCPCS and UB04 coding experience required. Coding experience or ability to demonstrate coding audit standard required. Must have a valid Claims Coding Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders. Must have a valid Arizona driver's license and reliable transportation. Performance Expectations: 1. Conducts reviews/audits of selected CPCC enrolled client's medical records.

2. Compares medical records and encounter data submissions utilizing the Covered Service Guide; ICD10, CPT and HCPCs manuals guidelines and rules. Monitors correction of errors and tracks provider resubmissions in order to justify accurate coding of services provided.

3. Determines omissions and measures timeliness of encounter submissions.

4. Provides verbal and written technical assistance to clinical staff in order to resolve identified errors.

5. Validates encounter acceptance within the CPCC Claims system.

6. Provides education and training to clinical staff.
