General Summary: The main objective of the Wait Staff Shift Leader is to provide excellent service to guests while providing direction and leadership to the Wait Staff. The Shift Leader ensures that the Wait Staff follows all company procedures and guidelines.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities – Essential Functions

  1. Attending Guests
    1. Knowledgeable in all menu and price offerings.
    2. Proficient in Wait Staff procedures as outlined in the Wait Staff manual.
    3. Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with procedures by the Wait Staff throughout the shift.
    4. Provides leadership, coaching, and direction to Wait Staff in a team environment.
  2. Cleanliness and Sanitation
    1. Follows standardized cleaning procedures and practices the “clean-as-you-go” philosophy.
    2. Responsible for following all food safety and sanitation standards throughout the shift.
    3. Pre-buses tables when possible.
    4. Follows departmental closing procedures.
    5. Performs daily cleaning assignment(s).
  3. Organization
    1. Maintains organization throughout the shift in work area.
    2. Stores all items in their designated labeled areas and eliminates clutter.
    3. Manages all logs, table charts, and uniform compliance lists when necessary.
  4. Teamwork
    1. Assists other team members when necessary. Asks for help when necessary.
    2. Assists management in anyway conducive to the efficient operation of the cafeteria.
  5. Communication
    1. Effectively communicates product, equipment, or operational issues to management and Shift Leader in a timely manner.
    2. Responsible for reviewing schedule and checking out with management before leaving.

Job Specifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must practice good personal hygiene and be neatly groomed
  • Must have good leadership and organizational skills
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Must be able to speak, understand, and read the English language
