POSITION PURPOSE -

The Associate Communications Intern will support internal associate communications initiatives for The Home Depot. 

The intern will work with the Manager – Associate Communications on the writing, editing and publication of our associate magazine. The intern will be responsible for supporting the overall management of the magazine including advertising; conducting interviews; drafting stories and proofreading. The intern also will support writing for our intranet and other communication vehicles.

 

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES –

  • Support the publication of our internal magazine by writing, editing and proofreading content
  • Write news stories for our intranet and other communication vehicles
  • Conduct associate interviews
  • Assist with management of magazine advertising
NATURE AND SCOPE - 
Reports to Manager, Associate Communications. Will not have direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – 

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

EDUCATION REQUIRED - 
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED while working towards or completing a post-secondary degree. 

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 00 

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - 
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Enrolled juniors, seniors and recent graduates in a Bachelor’s program with a focus in Communications, Journalism or Business
