Job Purpose/General Description
The purpose of this position is to inspect barges, grind fiberglass for the purpose of making permanent repairs to fiberglass barge covers. Perform maintenance related jobs such as: inspections, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance and repairs. Interacts on a regular basis with, management, peer maintenance and facility personnel.
Essential Duties
Craftspeople in this position:
60% Grind fiberglass and making permit repair. Perform maintenance related tasks to fiberglass barge covers on a daily basis
15% Barge inspection
10% Communicate with Scheduler
15% housekeeping duties
Required:
Normal working hours are from 6:00 am until 2:30 pm
Must be willing to work extended shifts to support the facility which may require coming in early, before normal shift and staying over later than normal shift. Short notice may be given.
Must be willing to accept call-outs to make repairs on nights, weekends or holidays.
Attend various safety and department meetings.
Understands and adheres to state and federal occupational safety and health rules and regulations as related to plant safety. Follow all Cargill safety rules and regulations. Performs pre-job hazard analysis worksheets.
Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation.
Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved.
Assist other plant personnel as needed and will perform any other duty as requested by supervisor.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Persons in this position must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to measure and be able to utilize tools. .
Must have strong written/verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills.
Must have good time management skills with ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Must be willing and able to work in an outdoor, dusty environment.
Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, etc. to work in elevated areas.
Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Must have adequate transportation.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must have at least 6 months experience in barge maintenance, deckhand and/or fiberglass repair work.
Equipment Used
Craftspeople in this position will use multiple tools such as 4" grinder and high lift jack.
