Our client is a very large Auto, Home and Life insurance company. They have a very good reputation for service and are known for providing great service within the industry.

Responsibilities

  • The Account Reps will be taking about 90% inbound calls servicing current accounts.
  • Handle telephone calls and other personal contacts.
  • Consistently demonstrate Integrity Selling Skills as evidenced by policies written and success with Life Referrals.
  • Pertinent documentation on routine transactions is usually obtained and increasingly thorough on non-routine transactions.
  • Approach all responsibilities maintaining a professional image and a positive outlook.
  • Assume responsibility for developing customer needs and fully servicing their account, employing our Sales and Service Standards and maintaining a proactive approach to customer retention.
  • Handle files both accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate an eagerness in learning all aspects of job requirements.
  • May be called upon to handle other duties as required.
  • They will be getting calls to service their MD, DC, VA and TN market. They will also be getting calls related to all areas of insurance and even taking sales calls, they will train them to make sure they are able to service everyone.
  • Handle telephone calls and other personal contact situations involving varying levels of difficulty to their conclusion.
  • Work with a modest degree of independence, applying communication and selling skills to handle adverse situations, representing the Company's position in a sophisticated and professional manner.
  • Seek assistance of higher authority when necessary.


The hiring manager stressed to us that the biggest thing they are looking for is someone with a focus on service and sales (retail, light sales). They want individuals who want to learn the insurance industry and want a new career path where they will enjoy working with people.

Environment

  • Fast-paced, call center "pit" type of environment.
  • Large, open high-cubes.
  • All reps will work on a team of 6 each.
  • Each team reports to 1 Team Lead.

Qualifications

  • Maintain state insurance license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Pursue additional insurance designations.
  • Previous insurance experience preferred.
  • Previous sales and/or service experience preferred.

Performance Expectations

  • Reps are held to quantitative metrics, but they focus most on the quality of the calls and the service they are providing.
  • They let us know, "their customers are the owners of the company; this is how they should feel about every call they get."
  • Will be evaluated on call quality.

Best vs. Average

  • The best employee will have a Bachelors degree and 1-3 years of experience.
  • They will have a great attitude and personality, a focus on customer service, and a passion to get into the insurance industry.

1st Day

  • Need to have experience working in a computer systems and be ready to learn.

Disqualifiers

  • Someone that wants a sales role - there is a sales aspect here, but it is more service oriented.

Interview Information

  • Longer interview process:

1. Phone Screen

2. In-Person Interview/Call Simulations

3. Final In-Person Interview/Shadow with current Team Member

Additional Compensation

  • Can receive an additional $1-3k per year in bonuses.

Additional Information

  • They will provide you continuing education and insurance licensing. This will consist of a 4 day class followed by the state licensing test.
  • They have varying licensing designations, one of which being the CPC-U, they will provide incentives such as additional vacation time and paying for your trip to the annual conferment conference. These take place all over the country; previous years have been New Orleans, the next trip will be in Hawaii.
  • They will pay for your education in terms of getting an additional degree or furthering education course, but only if the courses/degree is relative to your role in the company.
  • They have a very intensive 2-month training program for new employees; from there the training will continue while you are working in more of a "hands on" way.
  • They expect the Account Reps to be in the role for at least 18 months to 2 years before getting promoted.
  • They like to promote from within and can move into more of a sales role or management role.
  • There are also additional growth opportunities but you must be mobile and willing to relocate.
