General Summary

The SVP of Stores is responsible for leading the Stores Division. As a critical member of our senior management team, this executive is integrally involved in the strategic planning, development and execution of the division’s goals and objectives. This executive will deliver maximum sales productivity and profitability and ensure excellent guest service by articulating the Company’s mission, vision and core values to the Stores Division associates. This position reports to the President & CEO.

Responsibilities


1. Achieve or exceed planned sales and profits by providing leadership and direction to the Stores Division leadership team.
2. Develop, implement and monitor strategies to achieve sales and profit plans, expense budgets and merchandising plans to maximize sales and profit performance.
3. Partner with Loss Prevention to ensure that shrink goals are met.
4. Through proper disciplines and timely reporting, ensure that the safety of our guests and our associates is highly prioritized.
5. Collaborate with Stores Division leadership and HR partners to ensure that stores have the appropriate staffing levels, maintain high quality standards and that they are in compliance with all legal requirements such as the PPACA, minor work rules, OSHA, ADA and other applicable laws.
6. Drive new and existing leadership development and succession planning for the division to ensure the appropriate level of talent to support current and future needs of the organization
7. Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures pertaining to merchandising and provide feedback, suggestions, and ideas regarding merchandise presentation, visual display, and the handling of ad goods.
8. Practice excellent communication and coordination of effort between the store management teams, the Distribution Centers, the Merchandising staff and the Planning & Allocation staff.
9. Develop action plans to realize greater sales by identifying opportunities in underdeveloped businesses, unrepresented brands or categories of business, or by adjusting department adjacencies and/or merchandise presentation to achieve greater sell-throughs. Partner with Merchandising and Marketing ensuring that these strategies are effectively represented in all stores and to our guests.
10. Ensure the achievement of a high level of guest satisfaction through great guest service, evaluation of guest comment cards, and through personal example during the course of store visits.

Education and Qualifications


1. Ability to sufficiently understand the English language in order to communicate with individuals at all levels in the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner.
2. Knowledge of retail merchandising concepts and business management.
3. Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead others towards the accomplishment of store and company objectives.
4. Strong business and financial acumen with a proven track record of exceeding sales goals and maintaining operational excellence.
5. Significant experience leading and developing high performing retail teams.
6. Demonstrated ability to act independently while maintaining collaborative partnerships.
7. Ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
8. Minimum of 10 years in retail management. Preferred experience includes supervising multiple big-box retail locations, including apparel and hardlines experience
9. 3 years in management at a District/Regional level required.
10. Bachelors degree strongly preferred.
