**Job Summary**

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Water Resources Intern for employment in the Hunt Valley, MD office\.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate training/education in Water Resource related studies\. The incumbent can look forward to gaining experience in a wide range of highway, water resources, and site development projects\. This an entry level/summer intern position working with the AECOM Transportation Group for a variety of engineering support functions, including planning and design for highway and water resources projects\. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client\-focused, be impactful and be decisive\. All technical interns at AECOM will be eligible to participate in AECOM's intern development program\. The program develops talented students through a combination of work experience, training, networking and exposure to AECOM subject matter experts\. The goal of the program is to introduce AECOM and assist with building business and technical competency\. Interns whose overall performance achieves AECOM's expectations, ideally, receive a recommendation for a full\-time position after graduation\.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Basic engineering modeling and design, preparation of design plans, cost estimates, and coordination with other disciplines

+ Mathematical calculations and checking, alignment geometry, computer processing, surveying, construction inspection and report preparation

+ Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks

+ Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities

+ Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

+ Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

+ Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD MEP

+ Work under supervision of a project manager or senior\-level team member

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Currently in pursuit of Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, hydrology or related field and completed sophomore year

+ Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills, including the ability to convey thoughts clearly and concisely

+ Must have strong mathematical skills and spatial awareness

+ Must have good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and most importantly, a strong desire to learn

+ Proficient use of PC\-based applications \( MS Word, Excel, Access\), as well as motivated, hardworking team player with attention to detail

+ Strong work ethic and professional demeanor

+ Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative

+ Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

+ Basic knowledge of CADD and design software, such as MicroStation, Geopak, AutoCAD, or Civil 3d, TR\-55, TR\-20, HEC\-RAS preferred but not required

+ Hydraulic/Hydrologic modeling, storm drain system design, and/or highway design experience preferred but not required

+ A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university

+ Civil engineering student with a minimum 3\.0 GPA and completion of Sophomore or Junior Year by the summer of 2016

+ Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full\-time employment
