About this job

It is the sole purpose of every Manager to provide outstanding customer service and quality of products while maintaining the integrity of processes and standards set by Original Bread. The customers are the purpose for our work and each person shall provide an environment consistent with the Concept Essences and Cultural Values of the Company. Shift Managers are responsible to contribute positively to the overall operation of the Bakery/Café and the associates within the location.

Operational Expectations

  1. Perform all functions with a high level of integrity, long term consideration while representing the brand internally and externally in a positive and professional manner.
  2. Create and maintain a positive work environment with teams and treat associates fairly and with appropriate feedback to ensure their work satisfaction and accountability.
  3. Develop internal associates and self to in order to exhibit Belief in the Individual.
  4. Contribute to the store in making food cost budgets without compromising recipe integrity or financial records. Complete nightly reports such as efficiencies and donation tracking with integrity.
  5. Manage labor on each shift with integrity while providing exceptional and timely service to guests.
  6. Meet or exceed guest feedback measurement tools with integrity; respond accordingly to all opportunities to build relationships with guests.
  7. Assist in maintaining staffing levels while looking for quality associates to ensure that the service levels are exceeding guest expectations.
  8. Operate all shifts with a high level of food safety and food quality in mind and achieve at or above company average scores in Steritech of 95% and above and Health Inspections without critical violations from respective local authorities.
  9. Maintain and improve operational excellence by meeting or exceeding the internal audit scores within Original Bread, Inc and with a goal of achieving a minimum Gold Level from corporate OEA audits.
  10. Complete all paperwork timely as to associate files, training materials, accident reports, financials and any other documents that affect café operations and Original Bread, Inc.

Daily Responsibilities

  1. Provide exceptional service to customers in a friendly and courteous manner and spend 80% of shift in dining room to ensure this is achieved.
  2. Manage associates effectively and delegate store responsibilities and guest needs.
  3. Ensure the bakery/café adheres to P.E.G.S. (Product Environment Great Service) standards.
  4. Communicate with management team of café any important information and complete responsibilities timely and accurately with-out continual reminders.
  5. Be a team player with fellow managers and associates while helping the store and Original Bread to meet goals.
  6. Follow and execute training programs and processes to ensure consistency in products and quality.
  7. Strive to learn more every day to benefit personal growth and that of the concept.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe environment for customers and associates.
  9. Arrive at work on-time daily, in uniform and prepare to work the entire shift in which you are assigned while also being available for additional shifts as needed.
  10. Act as a leader and role model to the store associates and fellow management team.
  11. Use all equipment for which you have been trained for and approved to use carefully while also ensuring they are in good working order.
  12. Perform all tasks as assigned to you, in any area in which you are trained for, at the best of your abilities.

Qualifications / Experience Requirements

  1. High School graduate or equivalent is required.
  2. At least one year of experience in Panera is preferred or combination of experience internally and other prior management experience.
  3. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to use those in verbal interactions as well as in written form.
  4. Must have problem solving skills and offer solutions to situations with valid reasoning and logic.
  5. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Schedule and Location Requirements

  1. Must be available for full-time hours of 35 or more weekly including weekends as a Shift Manager.
  2. Will be required to open, mid or close and typically closing two to three times a week.
  3. Must attend manager meetings or other functions as required.

Physical Requirements

  1. Must be able to work up to a 10 hour shift while standing or walking to perform essential functions.
  2. Will be required to lift up to forty pounds during the course of a workday.
  3. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and associates to ensure the safety of individuals and customer needs.
  4. Will require bending, stooping, and occasional use of a ladder.
