Histology Transcriptionist (PRN)

Answer telephone as needed; screen Pathology calls; phone necessary reports; take phone orders for work; general typing duties as needed; assist with charting as needed; charge for pathology items as needed; day-to-day transcription of gross and microscopic pathology reports including frozen sections and autopsy reports; produce copies & reports and distribute to relevant hospital departments; assure receipt & disposition of pathology & send-out reports; maintain pathology records; order supplies for lab as needed. Age dependent care is not applicable to this position (absolutely no patient contact). This is a non-exempt position.

Knowledge of transcription principles & medical terminology for all phases of histology and anatomic pathology.

Must be computer literate with good keyboard skills. Must have excellent grammar and spelling skills.

>1 yrs in hospital environment generally required.

>3 yrs in hospital environment preferred.

Will accept graduates of approved transcription' school upon evaluation of clinical internship experience.

Patient communication is age-appropriate and sensitive to cultural diversity.

Minimum: H.S. graduate with on the job training.

Preferred: Certified transcriptionist
