The Assistant Store / Production Leader will be accountable and responsible for the production line operations of a MAACO Center contributing to company goals in the areas of: service, profit and operating efficiency, all under the direction of the GM / Store Leader, through influencing and motivating their staff with a general focus on developing people.

The essential functions of the Assistant Store / Production Leader consist of all aspects of managing day to day operations in a production environment, supervising workflow, and completing vehicle repairs to Maaco standards within target dates, including, but not limited to:

  • Assist in staffing the center to company guidelines through recruiting, hiring, training/developing and providing guidance to the GM regarding the management of personnel as appropriate. 

  • Ensuring the Production staff is trained and supported for success to meet or exceed all KPI’s 

  • Ensuring the Center is operated within all relevant legal, regulatory, and company requirements 

  • Ensuring the Center is meeting or exceeding all MAACO and company KPI’s 

  • Ensuring all “MAACO Model” and company SOP’s are being followed - especially Adherence to 
Boards, Morning Meetings, Ease/Date/Dollars scheduling, and 8-4-2 

  • Setting weekly production goals and measuring, reviewing, and discussing KPI’s with tech staff 

  • Establish and monitor on-going production goals and standards, executing daily production plan 

  • Directs the Quality Control process and supervises the implementation of systems to assure the 
prevention of quality problems and ongoing quality appraisal evaluating that work is being 
performed efficiently, including reviewing all work between departments 

  • Measure and evaluate production staff performance and that work is being performed in accordance 
with management goals, measuring quality standards, inspecting work in-process and pre-delivery. 

  • Sets the shop up daily for Production before crew arrives – staging vehicles, materials and tools 

  • Assisting the GM in leading daily meetings 

  • Creating urgency in and ultimately oversee the body shop to feed the paint line 

  • “Maaco-izing” and managing the PL/production staff to achieve high volume and quality standards 

  • Develops and communicates standard repair procedures, and quality and cost standards within the 
detail, paint and body departments, and monitors performance. 

  • Directs the movement of vehicles through the center and assigns work to the technicians in the 
most productive manner. Communicate due date goals to technicians daily, and coordinates 
information flow between the office and the production floor. 

  • Breaks down repair orders by department and task assigns work to the appropriate technician. 

  • Administers preventative maintenance program for all equipment and tools, and makes replacement 
or upgrade recommendations to management. 

  • Keeps up-to-date with new techniques and materials, and facilitates training for all shop personnel. 

  • Tracks and monitors key numbers to monitor quality, productivity and costs. 

  • Holds regular meetings with staff for input on any issues of concern, quality, productivity and cost. 

  • Provides coaching, training, performance review to production staff 

  • Assists in training and developing back-up painting personnel and cross-training all other PLT’s 

  • Working collaboratively with sales staff to achieve high production volume and quality standards 

  • Implementing Maaco’s inventory control system and managing materials ordering and parts 

  • Reviewing numbers and compiling reports as requested 

  • Conducting twice daily team meetings to review sales and production plans and goals 

  • Exercising leadership, tact, diplomacy to inspire/motivate teamwork achieving goals & objectives
  • Maintains clean/organized and operational shop (all equipment - refer to cleaning/maintenance log)
