Director, Transportation

# Description The Director of Domestic Inbound and Outbound Transportation will establish the strategic objectives for inbound and outbound domestic transportation of merchandise within the TRU supply chain to ensure the achievement of goals and initiatives, while providing the daily operational management direction to meet those objectives. The Director of Domestic Transportation responsibilities include P&L/budgeting, backhaul revenue, development of policies and procedures, KPI’s/reporting, ETA and scheduling management, systems strategy/development and asset management. * Manage the domestic inbound transportation, store delivery (including sub haul), e-commerce and direct to store functions including ethical, high integrity based business relationships with carriers, suppliers, vendors and other TRU business units. This includes total P&L responsibilities for a combined budget of $150M plus, and operational responsibility for all domestic inbound and outbound freight including domestic consolidation facilities and shipments from Canada. * Lead the inbound merchandise ETA program, developing strategies, measuring and driving change to increase ETA performance while utilizing global visibility, Dc appointment scheduling, and yard management tools. * Direct and drive continuous improvement and optimization of all aspects of domestic transportation, including the dedicated fleet revenue program (backhaul) including collect, prepaid, and 3rdparty opportunities to offset store delivery expenses, trailer maintenance program, and fuel consumption program. * Review KPI’s and measure domestic inbound and outbound performance to those standards. Implement continuous improvement plans and execute corrective action plans as required to enhance the inbound and outbound logistics process. * Effectively communicate with team members to accomplish necessary objectives. Effectively review Team Members performance and develop individuals for continued success and advancement. Manage team to ensure compliance with all government and company requirements. # Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in business or logistics, 5 years both inbound and outbound transportation operations experience along with progressive leadership experience. Working knowledge of transportation management systems. * Experience successfully facilitating and implementing change. * Knowledge of DC Operations and store delivery experience preferred. * Extensive knowledge of Transportation industry (including TL, LTL, Intermodal, and Fleet operations), Retail Distribution and Store Operations, Procurement knowledge * Outstanding customer insight with a drive for service * Experience with Transportation Management Software (TMS) * Proven track record of working cross functionally across an enterprise to create collaborative solutions. * Exposure and experience in Supply Chain process, principles and practices. * Strong coaching, mentoring and employee development skill * Excellent strategic and analytical thinking, problem solving and rapid decisions **Job Function:** Logistics **Primary Location:** USA-NJ-Wayne **Schedule:** Full-time **Organization:** Headquarters **Job Type:** Standard **Education Level:** Bachelor's Degree **Brand:** Toys 'R' US **Req ID:** 70389
