Transportation Manager - San Bernardino, CA

Medline Industries, Inc. has an opening for a Transportation Manager in San Bernardino, CA. As the Transportation Manager, you will oversee and manage local drivers, ensuring proper communication between drivers, Branch and Corporate Management. You will implement new routes, ensure compliance with all state Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company regulations, and adapt MedTrans capabilities to provide efficient, high-quality Transportation Service.

The challenging responsibilities of the role will include:

• Optimize daily routes and activities based on Branch and Fleet workloads and available Customer order information to maximize the utility of all Fleet assets.
• Ensure compliance with all DOT and Company regulations
• Ensure drivers are properly trained according to MedTrans requirements.
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of MedTrans fleet.
• Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained in accordance with the MedTrans vehicle maintenance policy.
• Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with drivers as required by DOT or company policy.
• Develop and mentor staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.
• Work cross functionally with internal departments (operations, sales, customer service, etc.) and with external groups (vendors, customers, etc.)
• Generate and analyze reports for transportation efficiency and customer relations.
• Understand profit and loss statements and provide analysis.
• Control costs of fleet through different avenues including overtime control, driver efficiency, route efficiency, training, etc.

Qualification

• 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience managing and dispatching drivers and use of routing software.
• Intermediate knowledge of Transportation Costing and Motor Carrier Operations.
• Experience managing drivers, use of routing software, and fleet management.
• Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: formatting cells and workbooks, creating and manipulating basic formulas, creating charts and graphs, creating PivotTables, enter and edit data in a worksheet, inserting and deleting rows and/or columns, selecting font style and size, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets).
• Intermediate skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: inserting, rearranging, hiding and deleting slides, navigating between slides, adding, centering and editing text, adding animation, slide transitions, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing outline view and/or running a slide show, using outlines, embedding files in slides).
• Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: alter formatting, add a header and footer, aligning text, insert and manipulate tables, embed an Excel worksheet into a document, track changes, review pane and/or print functions).
