As a Software Engineering Manager, you will perform day to day development management responsibilities related to onshore direct reports, while also influencing the work of the offshore team. Development activities will predominantly involve developing business intelligence solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications (Agile development). This individual will implement and follow software development lifecycle processes and standards adopted by the technology engineering organizations. Additional duties include participation in a cross-functional product team that is responsible for overall product delivery and interaction with broader business functions.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Build and manage a team of onshore and offshore software engineers & analysts with top-notch development practices
Manage several simultaneous agile product development projects through the full lifecycle; track user stories and defects
Ensure development processes are followed
Report project status to peers, executives, and customers
Collaborate and partner with other development teams, quality assurance teams, product managers and program managers to define project scope, schedule, and resources
Organize peer reviews for design, coding and other work products
Enforce quality standards including: code conventions, unit testing, static analysis, revision control
Coordinate with QA/QC staff for product functional and system testing
Recommend product, process, and tool improvements
Own and manage development environments
Manage staff training plans; mentor and coach direct reports for career development
Manage towards results using SDLC processes while always striving to improve those processes in an agile environment
Conduct annual employee reviews for direct reports
Recruit and interview new employees

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of formal employee management experience in a software development environment
Experience managing a team of 4 more resources
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with offshore development resources
Minimum of 7 years of full-lifecycle software development experience
Intermediate level experience with C#, C#.net and Classic ASP development
Intermediate level experience with SQL server concepts and approaches
Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Conceptual knowledge of modern asp and SQL development tools
Superior interpersonal and communication skills
Thorough understanding of application security issues, including common web application exploits
Experience developing common software components for enterprise environment
Healthcare industry experience
Experience with and understanding of Agile software development methodology (Scrum) & best practices
Familiar with Rally Software
Familiar with such Big Data tools such as Hadoop/MapR
Familiar with MYSQL
Familiar with NoSQL technology such as Mongo, MarkLogic, etc.
Project/Program Management experience
