Position Summary: 

The Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting with the creation of manufacturing procedures and fixture design. A self-motivated multi-tasker that utilizes a strong work ethic for a growing 68 person facility in Theodore, Alabama is required. This position is considered temporary through the end of August.

 

Key Position Results:

  • Complete implementation of work station procedures in a manufacturing product line
  • Completion of (3) fixtures to be designed and implemented into production

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner
  • Ability to work in a team environment focusing on meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost standards
  • Observation and development of manufacturing procedures to correspond with current manufacturing methods.
  • Evaluate manufacturing process to identify needed tooling, fixtures, etc.to increase safety, quality and through put
  • Data entry
  • Statistical analysis
  • Design and drawing of fixtures, plant layouts, etc.
  • Assist others as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area 
  • Complete paperwork as required
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
  • Perform all duties in the spirit of Our Philosophy and in accordance to legal, ethical and contractual practices

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching and reaching
  • Must be capable of recurring lifting or handling of heavy items or similar activities from ground level to above the head with weights of up to 30 pounds throughout the work shift

 

Environmental/Atmospheric Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to dust, fumes and odors
  • Exposure to solvent and chemicals
  • Other risks associated with working around machines and tools

 

Machines, Tools, Equipment & Software Used:

  • Personal protective equipment including: ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots and safety vest
  • Tools include but not limited to: tape measure, calipers and other precision measuring tools
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, 3D CAD Software

 

Education / Training Required:

  • Associates Degree or enrollment in a credited Engineering program
  • Microsoft Office Programs (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
