About this job

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Performs and supervises daily accounting and system function. Maintains all sales, purchasing, inventory, accounts receivable and patron records on retail store system. Performs other routine office and sales duties. Schedules workload for maximum efficiency of system and optimum point of sale service level.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Becomes completely proficient and knowledgeable in all phases of the retail support system, its operation, capabilities and procedures, and operate system.

2. In conjunction with Manager or Assistant Manager schedules inventory counting within established procedures.

3. Maintains all system records on a current and accurate basis.

4. Supervises or enters appropriate data into system such as purchasing and receiving records, file maintenance, inventory counts, etc.

5. Prepares all required or needed reports from retail support system and distributes same to appropriate employees.

6. Assists in sales to customers.

7. Assists in various phases of credit and collections including checking courthouse records and answers patron account questions.

8. Handles bank deposits.

9. Maintains complete filing system.

10. Types letters, reports and other material from rough drafts and prepares for mailing.

11. Becomes familiar with merchandise lines.

12. When necessary, assists in training and supervising Junior Sales Bookkeeper and/or Sales Bookkeeper.

13. Adheres to Southern States No Tolerance Policy and Safety and Environment.

14. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with one year experience as Clerk Bookkeeper or equivalent work experience in data processing.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Knowledgeable of RSS.

Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift/carry 50 pounds. Vision, hearing and speech essential. Hand coordination to use computer. Job requires contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
