ABOUT THE JOB: Provide visitors with a positive shopping experience by ensuring customer service standards are met or exceeded.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT Your tasks will include:

Carts
  • Provide visitors with a positive shopping experience by ensuring customer service standards are met or exceeded
  • Assist customers in loading merchandise into vehicles and in returning merchandise
  • Retrieve carts from parking areas and ensure that the loading zone remains clear
  • Maintain a balanced cart flow throughout the store/home delivery areas
  • Disassemble AS IS merchandise when required
  • Report inoperable equipment to managers
  • Maintain outside area, ensuring it is fully stocked with twine, etc.
  • Work closely with the furniture pick up and warehouse staff to ensure the integrity of merchandise pulls
Cashier
  • My priority is to ensure my check-out is effectively equipped at all times throughout the day and I am ready and available to help customers when needed.
  • I have the knowledge, confidence, and desire to make customer payment easy.
  • I know my levels of authorization to solve payment problems when they occur and recognize when I need to escalate an issue to someone with higher authorization.
  • I pass on the relevant information for them to deal effectively and efficiently with the customer.
  • I offer solutions to frequently asked questions. This helps to make a better future shopping experience for everyone.
  • I use the till to accurately register products and register payment from customers according to given routines.

Returns
  • I have the knowledge, confidence and desire to resolve customer complaints.
  • I deal positively and quickly with any issues they raise.
  • I have the knowledge, confidence and desire to make the buying process as easy as possible for our customers.
  • I ensure we listen to our customers and use knowledge of both the IKEA product range and how retailing works in order to offer informed solutions and resolve customer issues.
  • I am empowered to solve customer complaints within my level of authorization.
  • I recognize when I need to escalate an issue and then pass on the relevant information to a manager for him/her to be able to deal effectively with the customer.
  • I know how to assemble IKEA products so I can assist customers who have difficulties assembling them.
  • I also exchange component parts when they are needed.

Furniture Pick Up
  • Check and verify customer orders to ensure the contents of the order are accurate, paid for and free from damages
  • Promote a safe working environment for fellow co-workers, customer and visitors by reporting any safety hazards, concerns or ideas for improvement.

Greeter/Smaland
  • Provide visitors with a positive shopping experience by ensuring customer service standards are met or exceeded
  • Greet visitors and provide direction and information to visitors
  • Be prepared to answer questions and provide information/promotional materials to customers (maps, catalogs,etc)
  • Complete general routines and ensure housekeeping is of the highest standard
  • I interact with and monitor the children who are signed into the play facility .
  • I am responsible to page parent/guardian, if necessary to assist with discipline issues and attending to personal needs (i.e. bathroom visits).
  • I participate and entertain children with games and other approved activities.
  • I strictly adhere to all of the IKEA play facility and safety & security policy and procedures.
  • I have the knowledge, confidence and desire to resolve customer complaints.
YOUR PROFILE Your knowledge, skills and experience include:
Knowledge/Experience:
  • 0-6 months of experience in the following knowledge areas:
  • Good customer service, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in a customer service environment
Capabilities/Motivation:
  • Knowledge and interest in Home Furnishings
  • Effective verbal and written skills in the English language
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Prefer fast-paced, retail work environment
