I. Job Summary
This manager level position manages the day-to-day operations of centralized dispatch for one or more lines of business (residential, commercial, and roll-off). This position ensures success by establishing and maintaining performance and productivity metrics and cost management processes. In addition, the Dispatch Manager reviews operational efficiencies, safety, service, and other operational problems with the sales, customer service, and operations functions in order to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned as required.
Manages the day-to-day operations of centralized dispatch for one or more lines of business.
Responsible for meeting residential, commercial, and roll off efficiency goals and other performance metrics.
Partners with field operation sites to complete capacity planning.
Ensures field operation site rosters are reported to central dispatch daily.
Develops, implements, and maintains processes, procedures, and programs to improve safety, productivity, and profitability of the site.
Maintains and understands WM customer service standards.
Responsible for continuous improvement of dispatcher performance through training, motivation, communication, and coaching.
Delivers verbal and written disciplinary action to employees when necessary.
Recruits, selects, hires and trains of dispatch employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has supervisory duties.
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant work experience.
Experience: Two years of supervisory or management experience (in addition to education requirement).
Experience preferred: Experience in the transportation/operations field. Experience in a call center environment a plus.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
None required.
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Proficiency using computer applications to record, analyze, and report information.
Work experience resolving human resource and labor relations issues.
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Preferred:
Strong coaching skills
Working knowledge managing to metrics
Ability to multi-task
Ability to make solid decisions under pressure
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Good relationship building skills
