The General Manager of a Smashburger Restaurant provides leadership and motivation to ensure that all managers and team members are guest-focused, team-focused, and community-connected. The General Manager will exercise knowledge of restaurant operations, manage staff resources, provide counsel, develop and coach managers and improve sales, profits and operating standards.

What does a General Manager while working for Smashburger?

  • Accomplishes restaurant human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining management staff; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Establishes restaurant business plan by surveying restaurant demand; conferring with members of the community; identifying and evaluating competitors; preparing financial, marketing, and sales projections, analyses, and estimates.
  • Accomplishes company goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Achieves restaurant operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining improvements and implementing change. Places food orders based on established pars and conducts precise daily and weekly inventory of restaurant food products and dry good. Meets restaurant financial objectives by forecasting requirements; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Controls costs by reviewing portion control and quantities of preparation; minimizing waste; ensuring high quality of preparation.
  • Maintains operations by following established policies and standard operating procedures; implementing production, productivity, quality, and patron-service standards; determining and implementing system improvements.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations; securing revenues; developing and implementing disaster plans; maintaining security and sprinkler systems; maintaining parking lot and walkways. When scheduled, complete the store safety inspection.
  • Maintains ambiance by controlling lighting, background music, linen service, utensil quality and placement; monitoring food presentation and service.
  • Continually improves job knowledge by participating in manager meetings, educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Average minimum 2 years’ experience in food service management, required
  • Experience with fast casual restaurant
  • High school diploma/GED, required; Associate’s degree or higher in Hospitality or Food Service, preferred
  • Possess or obtain Food Safety Manager Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States and able to provide appropriate documentation to complete the form I-9 within 3 days of their first day of employment
  • Must be 18 years of age, acceptable criminal background check
  • Able to move about inside the restaurants front and back of the house (which maybe in a basement or second floor)
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 20 pounds on a regular basis when working in the kitchen
  • Must be able to constantly operate computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Must be able to consistently see and hear customers via the phone and in person
  • Frequently works in a hot kitchen or able to make deliveries in a motor vehicle in all weather conditions

In 2013 Savin Foods purchased the greater Boston territory for the Smashburger franchise.

Today, we have 5 Wings restaurants in central Connecticut, 4 in the greater Boston area and Smashburger restaurants in Natick and Westwood MA with an additional Smashburger restaurant being opened in Medford MA in the fall of 2015.
