Additional Comments:

• The grand opening of the new Hanover store will be in the Spring of 2017.

• The Hanover store will be open 6am-midnight, 7 days a week.

Cook II / Cook III (Customer Service)

Customer Service Cooks II and III have a passion for preparing food as well a desire to develop their skills and talents in the kitchen. They play an integral role in preparing ingredients and core recipes; merchandising products in our Chef’s cases; and ensuring customers are provided incredible service and access to products throughout the day.

What abilities I must bring to the table to be considered:

In addition to Incredible Customer Service, successful applicants will possess one or more of the following:

  • Experience working as a pantry cook / apprentice cook
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts
  • Experience working as a line cook
  • Food preparation experience
  • Customer service experience preferably in a food service, restaurant, grocery or retail setting
  • Possess culinary knife skills which include safely using knives; sharpening and honing the edges of knives; and using them to chop, dice, julienne and mince


Potential related experiences: Line cook, Prep cook, Grill cook, Station cook, Short-order cook, Fry cook, Pantry cook

Cook I (Team Leader)

Cook I Team Leaders work closely with Executive Chefs and Sous Chefs to oversee a Culinary area of the store. They are given the opportunity to work hands on developing the food passion and skills of employees, display their expertise in culinary arts while producing great tasting food; ensure the kitchen is operating smoothly and customers are provided with incredible service.

Sous Chef

Sous Chefs assist in setting the culinary standard throughout the store; using their culinary talents as well as managerial skills to oversee a Culinary area of the store. They work with a team to ensure the great tasting foods are available for our customers to enjoy throughout the day and they are receiving incredible service and assistance preparing their meals.

What abilities I must bring to the table to be considered:

In addition to Incredible Customer Service, successful applicants will possess one or more of the following:
  • Experience working in a multi-faceted food service facility, including restaurant hotel, country club, conference center, casino, theme park, etc.
  • Experience as a Cook I with supervisory responsibilities
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts
  • Managerial/ supervisory experience
  • Diverse culinary experience, including working with a variety of food in a variety of regions and/ or cultures




Executive Chef / Store Chef (not a current opportunity but one for future growth):

In the role of Executive or Store Chef, you will oversee the Prepared Foods area and bring to life the Wegmans culinary vision throughout the entire store. You will be given the opportunity to display your culinary training, experience and talent in a food-focused environment; promoting a focus not only on great tasting prepared foods but on educating customers and team members and providing incredible customer service.



Work Environment:

• Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment.

• Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching.

• Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely.

• May be exposed to various allergens and work environments, including temperature changes.

• Tasks will be performed using and in the proximity of coolers, ovens, stoves and other hot equipment; cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment.

• Will be required to spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours.

Other:

• Days/Hours Requirement: Full Time applicants are required to have an open availability Sunday-Saturday, between the primary operating hours of 6am-Midnight, unless specified for a position/department. Full Time employees work a minimum of 40 hours/week, in 8-hour intervals including evenings and weekends to meet business needs. Weekend availability is required.

Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

Days/Hours Requirement: Candidates must have flexible availability Sunday through Saturday 6am - 12am, including weekends and holidays.
