On behalf of American Institutes for Research (AIR), Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking Part-Time School Data Collectors to work on a school-based research study in the Pennsylvania area.airind

Part-Time School Data Collectors will conduct assessments of children’s school readiness with students entering kindergarten in elementary schools in the following Pennsylvania school districts: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Albert Gellatin School District, Lancaster, Pottstown, Reading and York City.  In addition, data collectors will assist in parent consent form collection. This may include going to schools during drop off/pick up times and returning forms to AIR.

Individuals who have experience working with young children are welcome to apply, especially retired teachers and substitute teachers!

Position Specifics

This position will begin with an in-person training August 29 – September 1, 2016 in Philadelphia. Part-Time School Data Collectors will begin working in the schools after passing all required background checks. Part-Time School Data Collectors should expect 9 – 35 hours of work each week, during daytime school hours. Applicants should have flexible daytime availability, and a willingness to travel to local schools. This position is projected to continue through November 18, 2016. In order to be considered for this role, you should be available to commit for the full length of the study.

Job Requirements

  • Be available to work up to 9-35 hours/week from September 6, 2016 through November 18, 2016, during daytime hours
  • Have reliable personal transportation to be used for business experience
  • Be willing to travel reasonable distances to reach assigned schools in study school districts
  • Have strong attention to detail
  • Have demonstrated experience working with preschool and/or elementary school age children
  • Adhere to all project deadlines
  • Strictly adhere to AIR’s and the school district’s procedures to protect the privacy of children and families
  • Submit completed assessments in a timely manner
  • Maintain contact with AIR’s data collection coordinator and other project team members in a timely and professional manner
  • Be prepared to notify AIR promptly regarding any scheduling or data collection issues
  • Maintain organized computer-based files and records (a secure computer will be provided on loan)
  • Pass School District required background check and fingerprinting processes prior to the start of training
  • Be available to attend and pass an in-person training scheduled for August 29th – September 1st, 2016
  • Be eligible to work in the United States

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, child development, psychology, or related field.
  • Experience engaging with children from a variety of backgrounds
  • Experience in school-based settings, particularly with preschool and/or elementary school age children
  • Familiarity with implementing standardized assessments procedures

Training

  • Pass School District required background check and fingerprinting processes prior to the start of training
  • Part-Time School Data Collectors will receive paid training in person scheduled for August 29th – September 1st.  Attendance at training is mandatory and will be contingent on passing all school district clearances.  Offers for employment are contingent upon successfully complete training to continue employment on the project.
  • Pay for this position begins at $15 per hour but will vary based on experience. Mileage will be reimbursed at $.54 per mile.
