Providence is calling Registered Nurses to the Emergency Department at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance, California. Openings include full-time, part-time, and per-diem (on-call) positions as well as multiple shifts.

Answer the call and join our highly-trained emergency team in providing a full range of state-of-the-art treatments for strokes, heart attacks, obstetrics, pediatrics, trauma, and accidents to over 73,000 patients per year in our 28-bed Emergency Department (ED).

At Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance we are passionate about providing compassionate service for all and are a designated STEMI Receiving Center, or heart attack treatment center, and an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) by the Los Angeles County Health Department. Our ED is equipped with individual rooms for each patient with sliding glass doors to aid in noise reduction. Two separate, private rooms with bathrooms are dedicated for women with obstetric or gynecologic medical needs. Additionally, we have a dedicated room for emergencies of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.

In this position you will:

Provide and supervise professional, independent nursing care for Providence patients, that is as evidence-based as possible. Provide care that is based in the nursing process and is consistent with the California Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards, and the ANA Code of Ethics. Apply knowledge of assessing, planning, ordering, giving, delegating, teaching, and supervising professional nursing care delivery that promotes patients' optimal health and independence. Have a broad range of general nursing knowledge and expertise. In addition, development and validation of knowledge and skills essential to the assigned department, patient population, and/or practice area are crucial. Participate in and lead clinical teams. Supervise, assign, or delegate to licensed vocational nurses (LVN), unlicensed assistive personnel, and other caregivers as needed. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes effective team functioning and reflects the Sisters of Providence and Little Company of Mary mission and philosophy and the Nurse's Bill of Rights.

Required qualifications for this position include:

Current unencumbered California (CA) Registered Nurse (RN) license

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from by the American Heart Association

within 30 days of hire Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

within 30 days of hire National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Stroke certification within 30 days of hire

1 year experience in the Emergency Department

Relevant training and certification applicable to the position, as specified by Nurse Manager

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)

Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN)
