Primary Responsibilities:  

Achieving assigned sales / membership growth targets through both the External Distribution Channel (EDC agents in his / her market) and Independent Career Agents (ICA) in the Northern Virginia suburbs and Washington D.C. area
Interact with all levels of staff within the EDC up to and including a local owner / leader
Assist agents in uncovering market niches and actively pursuing growth opportunities 
Responsible for managing and hiring  ICA Agents, which are captive with United Health and can only sell our products  
Monitor sales results, trends and key performance indicators (KPI's) and hold agents accountable for achieving targets
Product portfolio knowledge: Achieve and maintain strong knowledge of United Healthcare Medicare & Retirement products
Understand the target audience of our products and how to position products and value proposition to remain competitive
Ensure agents adhere to selling guidelines associated with Medicare regulations, partner expectations (e.g.; AARP) and company policies and procedures

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


Excellent communications skills both verbal and written 
3+ years sales / business development experience 
Computer proficiency 
Ability and / or experience to influence without authority (non captive agents) 
Solid reporting and analysis skills 
License to sell health insurance 
Must be able to commute by car to within the Northern Virginia, Washington DC area
 
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working for another Insurance Carrier or Broker
Bachelor's degree 
Experience managing 1099 employees
