Have an artistic touch? We work hard to ensure that every area of our resort looks just right, and we are looking for Painter I's to make sure our guests feel like they've just set foot inside the pages of a comic book or onto the set of their favorite movie. Problem solving, superior painting skills, attention to detail, and possessing the ability to use good judgment under pressure are just some of the key attributes we are looking for in a Painter I.

Painter I's at Universal Orlando are responsible for:

  • Gathering and preparing necessary tools and items needed to complete assigned painting tasks.
  • Picking colors and mixing paint while color matching for desired assignment.
  • Creating and maintaining painting documentation.
  • Preparing surfaces to be painted by cleaning, scraping, caulking, applying putty, and sanding.
  • Applying paint to prepared surface by brushing, rolling, spraying, electrostatic application, etc.
  • Cleaning paint area by picking up used tarps, scraping, removing tape, cleaning used brushes, cleaning spills, resealing paint cans, and cleaning paint buckets.
  • Storing equipment and tools in designated storage areas.
  • Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policies, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned.




To perform the role of a Painter I successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Consistent attendance and punctuality is a job requirement.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to five years experience preferred; experience in providing work direction preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License is required to operate company vehicles.
  • Must have working knowledge of all phases of painting.
  • Must be able to operate spray equipment, line stripers, mixers, etc. 
  • Must have brush and roller painting experience.
  • Must have knowledge and experience working with both water and solvent based paints, and mixing and matching of colors.
  • Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Painter I job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.  The individual is frequently required to talk or hear. 
  • The individual is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the Painter I job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; and outdoor weather conditions. 
  • The individual is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; and toxic or caustic chemicals. 
  • While performing this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
