This position will be mostly a Shipping Wrapper and at times a Short Runner and Dock Utility position. The Wrapper verifies quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of products and items of merchandise ready for shipment by performing the following duties. The Short Runner pulls product from warehouse slots according to selection labels produced during customer order processing and the voice picking system. The Short runner places the product on pallets in a prescribed pattern and delivers the loads to the designated staging area for truck loading. The Dock Utility opens up the empty trailers, cleans them out and prepares them for the loaders, they also could be helping the loaders by strapping in the pallets and general cleaning. The Dock Utility selects the fresh chicken and “Top Ice” pallets, opens and closes the dock doors and prepares the trailers for the loaders.

  • Counts, weighs, measures, or examines pallets of items for conformance to company and customer specifications.
  • Compares items packed with customer's order and other identifying data.
  • Directs Order Selectors to appropriate staging area for pallets
  • Identifies and documents errors. Communicates errors to the Shorts Runner
  • Wraps pallets prior to loading.
  • Corrects shorts caught by the dock organizer by going to the slots and picking up product that was not previously available for the order selector to pull.
  • Reads shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Weighs catch weight items to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Uses computer to enter recorded work.



    • High School Diploma or GED is required.
    • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly during shift.
    • Good attendance required.
    • Good communication & customer service skills; ability to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test

Physical Requirements

•While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

•Must be able to frequently lift 1-50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.

•Constant standing and/or walking, up to 8 hours daily

•Constant bending and twisting while operating a pallet jack and/or forklift, retrieving items from floor or lower shelf areas

•Constant use of both hands and arms: reaching, grasping, and carrying

•Constant use of visual and hearing abilities required to perform essential job functions and maintain warehouse safety standards

•Constant climbing on and off pallet jacks and/or forklifts, while building order: requires stepping on and off 12" platform
