WHELAN SECURITY IS NOW HIRING

We are looking for a professional with a deep background in leading an operations center to help manage our Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) for Uber in San Francisco!

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting continuous, 24x7 program operations that in turn support the collection and analysis of real-time, strategic intelligence. Whelan uses a variety of tools that range from enterprise access control and alarm monitoring systems to various business intelligence sources, open source media, internet, and in-house tools to detect, analyze, and alert personnel regarding adverse conditions that may affect the client, its employees, and their properties. The GSOC Manager is responsible for working with Uber’s security team to develop the company’s physical security capabilities, increase the efficiency and effectiveness of security for their employees, and manage critical incidents affecting Uber on a local, regional, and global level. These risks may include extreme weather conditions, political instability, crime, terror, technical failures, and other unforeseen circumstances.

The person chosen for this position will be expected to:
  • Develop a deep understanding of operational risks and drive the response process in order to minimize the impact of these risks
  • Influence and improve upon existing processes through innovation and operational change
  • Provide information and tactical recommendations to leadership during incidents
  • Oversee training and exercises to ensure GSOC team proficiency, and conduct after action reviews to identify lessons learned and best practices
  • Regularly review standard operating procedures and protocols to ensure GSOC continues to effectively meet operational requirements
  • Routinely engage with cross functional teams to evaluate GSOCs ability to meet stakeholder needs
  • Monitor direct reports and assist in selection of staff through interview process
  • Review of logbooks, incident reports, activity reports as required
  • Creation of compliance and KPI reports for quality assurance purposes
  • This position does require the candidate to be available to work some nights and weekends

Qualifications

Successful candidates must meet the following background requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • At least 21 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements
  • Demonstrate a stable work history
  • Pass an extensive background screening which includes, but is not limited to, criminal background checks (local, state and federal), drug test, aptitude tests, skills assessment, interviews, and personality profile (behavioral assessment)
  • Possess a minimum of 7+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in an operations center environment

We are looking for intelligent, courteous individuals with a friendly attitude, professional demeanor, great customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Previous contract services, hospitality, military, law enforcement or management experience is desirable.

Education

Candidates must meet the following educational requirements:
  • A college degree (Bachelor’s or greater) is preferred although equivalent experience will be considered
