Environmental Sterilization Specialists

Large hospital currently has multiple Environmental / Sterilization Specialists. These employees will be sterilizing patient rooms post discharge as well as sterilizing ORs after surgeries and doing patient care cleaning. Other cleaning tasks in regards to FDA and JCAHO regulations and standards will fall into their job description as well with all of the increased regulations. They will be responsible for sterilizing the surgical equipment, cleaning and sterilizing the patients rooms and for the initial sterilization of the surgical instruments. This is a heavily regulated role due to the sensitivity of the infant and children patients. The first shift employees will be will be out on the floor and visible by everyone in the hospital including patients and parents to the patients. The evening shift is behind the scenes in the patient rooms, ORs, and ERs. Will be delivering, retrieving, cleaning, and maintaining medical equipment for patient units. These associates will also be responsible for any customer service aspects such as answering patient questions in regards to directions and cleaning up any accidents as presented.
