What is my job:

The KBS Team Member helps our customers experience success with food by using the fun and fresh philosophy, and helping them learn about and enjoy the unique products we offer at Wegmans. In this role, you’ll work with various departments throughout the store to increase sales by creating interest and enthusiasm for the products, while providing incredible service to our customers!

How do I make a difference?

Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer Service
  • Introducing customers to our unique products and help customers understand new ways to enjoy them
  • Bring the store “alive” by proactively engaging customers and the demonstrating proper way to utilize or prepare product using various cooking techniques


Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients
  • Review provided material to learn about the products and ingredients we offer at Wegmans
  • Utilize resources to educate self about product uses and characteristics, be sure to share acquired product knowledge with customers
  • Increase sales by selling customers pre-designed solutions using the “1-2-3-4” model
  • Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures

Qualifications

What skills, learnings, and experiences are required?

  • Demonstrated high levels of customer service in perishable and/or merchandising
  • Successful completion of Knowledge Based Service training

  • Learn, use and be able to explain Wegmans sanctioned cooking techniques to assist customers for their success at home


What skills, learnings, and experiences are preferred and will set me apart?
  • Demonstrated ability to guide customers to make a purchase
  • Experience working across multiple areas
  • Experience with perishable, merchandising, or culinary products
  • Certification in multiple cooking techniques or Universities (where applicable)
  • Able to problem solve, anticipating, analyzing, and identifying problems, responding quickly when situations arise and preventing problems when possible


Work environment:
  • Work includes standing for up to 4 hours without a break, lifting, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers. The average weight range of items lifted is 1–5 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 35 pounds rarely. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Work requires the safe and proper handling of common cooking utensils and counter-top cooking equipment

  • Employment at Wegmans may be contingent upon your completion and our evaluation of a drug screen physical and/or criminal background check

Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

Days/Hours Requirement: Full Time applicants are required to have an open availability Monday - Saturday, between the primary operating hours of 6am–Midnight. Full time employees are typically scheduled a minimum of 40 hours/week, including evenings and weekends to meet business needs. Our existing stores experience busy sales patterns on the weekends. All hourly employees will earn time and one-half on Sunday.
