Payroll Planning & Analysis Manager

DESCRIPTION:
  • Supervises two Sr. Store Operations Payroll Analysts
  • Manages all annual and interim planning and budgeting processes and monitors the analysis of the monthly financial results for all U.S. Marshalls and TJ Maxx locations (2,000+ stores)
  • Develops, manages, and implements continuous improvement strategies for the store payroll model that result in improved fiscal management and improved timeliness of payroll to stores
  • Creates financial management consistency for the field organization by developing, managing, and streamlining reporting systems
  • Develops, maintains and grows partnerships with Business Planning and Analysis recommending interpretations and analysis of payroll reporting
  • Effectively partners with cross-functional business teams including Loss Prevention, Merchandising, and Store Systems to support new business initiatives and tests

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Manages both the annual and monthly payroll budgeting processes for planning store sales and payroll for all US Marshalls and TJ Maxx locations
    • This involves the development of consistent guidelines, training and support, analysis of plans, feedback and follow-up reporting
  • Oversees the distribution of payroll budgets to all levels of the field organization
  • Recommends to Senior Management the interpretations and revisions of payroll plans
  • Works in conjunction with Store Engineering to assist with updates to Engineered Labor Standards and to ensure the accuracy and synchrony with the payroll model
  • Manages the development and administration of key store attributes and labor requirements
  • Manages and maintains weekly forecast evaluation which reports actual store performance against forecasts
  • Provides periodic management reports and analysis highlighting disparities and relationships between payroll line items and variable factors such as store payroll hours, sales, percent, sales per labor hour and units per labor hour
  • Develops procedures which will result in improved plans with reduced effort

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • 3 – 5 years related financial analysis experience
  • 1 – 2 years of management and/or supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related Business fields
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to network across many levels of an organization
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience with multi-dimensional cube technology is preferred (COGNOS, BPC, Hyperion)
  • Strong analytic and decision making skills
