This role will be working in database services organization within Optum. Responsibilities include Database Administration and engineering of SQL Server , Oracle & MySQL in a shared services setup and will include operations, support, configuration, installation, performance tuning and design of scalable database solutions. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Administration of SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL implementations including installation, configuration, patching, backups, documentation, and monitoring
Automation of administration and installation task
Architect and Engineer robust Database systems for the enterprise
Provide database administration for mission-critical custom and packaged software applications
Uphold enterprise policy guidelines and recommend new/improved guidelines
Interact with customers to find solutions for operational issues for existing and proposed databases
Enforce standardization and consistency to ensure a stable and secure database environment
Implement and monitor database functionality to ensure stable environments
Identify and initiate resolutions to user problems and concerns associated with database server equipment (hardware and software)
Participate in regular on call rotation to resolve priority incidents
Work closely with application development team on designing, developing, testing and deploying application
Assist and provide consulting to application architect, application developer and end customers on database needs and best practice
Actively participate in all phases of project development life cycle including database policies, procedures, standards and supporting documentation, database design, process flow analysis, development, benchmark analysis, performance/tuning, capacity planning and production implementation
Experienced or knowledgeable to application development methodology like Agile
Engage in short and long-term capacity planning in collaboration with development resources, system administrators and system architects while analyzing current usage
Able to perform effective communication with project managers, application developers, end customers and any other IT groups; also able to provide clear status on critical tasks to management
Able to travel upon needs
Participate in 24/7 on-call

Required Qualifications:

7+ years of experience in the Information Technology profession
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server -OR- Oracle -OR- MySQL
5+ years of experience working with development teams and production support teams
SQL tuning experience 
Thorough understanding of application SDLC
Power Shell or Linux Shell scripting experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Software development experience
Certification in either Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server
Healthcare industry experience
