Senior Network Engineer

Provide forward thinking and set strategies for a Global Enterprise on new and current network technologies in the Voice and Data Network spaces. Responsible for providing recommendations, testing/evaluating and deploying new network technologies. Collecting/submitting budgetary data for annual and long range capital and expense planning. Contribute to, and maintain the Enterprise Network Roadmap. As our Voice and Data networks continue to evolve with new complex technologies and increased interdependencies, we have an additional need of technical experience to help drive direction in a Plan, Build, Run model. This position is part of a team of Senior Network Engineers partnering with Enterprise Architecture, Network Operations, other areas of IT and the Business, as well as existing and new vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support for the most complex network support activities including off-shift support.
  • Designs and performs Network Engineering/Administration maintenance tasks and analyzes processes for improvement.
  • Performs the most complex network changes and implementations.
  • Analyzes, tests and implements changes and enhancements to Network Software and Hardware technologies.
  • Leads teams in moderately complex or medium scale network support, maintenance, change, designs, disaster recovery, capacity and implementation projects.
  • Collaborates with IT areas to identify network relationships and functional requirements. Analyzes and resolves issues related to information flow and content.
  • Contributes to technical design of network in partnership with all areas of IT.
  • Performs network performance and tuning activities.
  • Provides direction and guidance to more junior associates.
  • Provides support for complex Network and Infrastructure engineering/implementation activities. Activities may require off hours support to conform to business processing requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge
  • Expert technical knowledge of network technologies
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with network. (e.g. IP Routing and Switching, Routing Protocols, WAN, Packet Analysis, Firewall, Load Balancing, Web Proxy, IP Telephony, Capacity Planning, Call Center, IT Tools and other relevant technologies)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills required
  • Works well independently as well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley and PCI compliance requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written technical and business communication skills
  • Ability to design and implement high availability solutions
  • Ability to design and implement disaster recovery solutions
  • Understands and able to communicate network software licensing knowledge
  • Ability to design and implement disaster recovery solutions and/or highly available redundant network

Minimum Experience and Education
  • 8 years working with network technology implementation of Infrastructure supporting retail and/or corporate business operations. Extensive experience with network design, delivery and support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Math or equivalent related experience. Industry certifications relevant to specialty technologies. (For example: Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE , etc)
