1. JOB STATEMENT: 
Every Sales Associate (SA) is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of his/her shift, within company policies, in such a manner as to ensure that the shift contributes to the increased profitability of the store.  The term "Sales Associate" applies to the part-time positions of first, second, and third shift employees.
 
2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
A. Provide Excellent Customer Service
 
• Greet customer with a smile and provide them with prompt, courteous service.
• Execute the five step “GUEST” approach with each customer.
• Greet, Understand, Eye Contact, Smile (and Speed), Thank You.
• Be knowledgeable at the times about merchandise, sale items, and store promotions.
• Make it right with customers when necessary
 
B. General Management
 
• Observe shift operating hours at all times and follow the work schedule as posted, unless a change in schedule is arranged with the Store Manager. 
• Perform specific tasks and shift duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
• Assist the Store Manager in maintaining expected operating standards throughout entire shift while on duty.
• Adhere to all city, county, and state regulations regarding the sale of any alcohol or tobacco products, or regulated substances.
• Retain current knowledge of changes in Company Price Book, Operations Manual, In-store Communications Log, and policies and procedures manuals.
• Ensure Store Manager is made aware of any and all sales, cash, inventory, or operating discrepancies.
• Operate shift within company policies and procedures to achieve maximum sales, profits, and customer loyalty.
• Be knowledgeable on how to change gas prices after receiving information from manager.
 
C. Bookkeeping
 
• Prepare a shift-change report upon the completion of each shift in accordance with company guidelines.
• Adhere to posted hours and minutes as assigned on time sheet, and sign time sheet verifying all time reported each week.
• Assure proper sales and accounting for all money orders, lottery tickets, and merchandise during shift.
• Accurately post price changes, store use of merchandise for supplies, and damaged or out-dated merchandise according to established guidelines.
 
D. Personnel
 
• Advise Store Manager or Supervisor of any personnel situations, or violations of company policies, which may have an adverse effect on the store's operating performance.  This includes, but is not limited to, incidents involving property damage, personal injury, sexual harassment or discrimination.
• Be a Mentor to new employees
• Be a team player
 
E. Inventory Control
 
• Always practice personal integrity when handling cash and merchandise and expect it from others.
• Share responsibility for controlling the inventory of the store on the shift.
• Follow correct vendor check-in procedure as directed by Store Manager.
• Protect company assets at all times, but do not to put yourself in physical danger.
 
F. Security
 
• Advise Supervisor if starting money is not as reported.
• Perform loss prevention activities by observing suspicious conduct by customers, vendors, or other associates and act upon it according to company policy. 
• Follow Company policy in regards to acceptable cash levels in the cash register, change, drawer, and safe.
• Have current knowledge of procedures in case of robbery.
 
G. Merchandising
 
• Keep coolers, shelves, and displays fully stocked and merchandise pulled forward at all times.
• Properly clean and maintain all fountain drink, coffee, and food service equipment to entice sales of high-margin products.
• Post correct signage and pricing on merchandise.
• Maintain proper rotation of merchandise ensuring constant freshness of product offer.
 
H. Housekeeping
 
• Maintain store cleanliness standards. 
• Keep store floors swept and mopped at all times.
• Constantly police outside lot for trash and spills, putting absorbent down on any oil or gas spills.
• Keep windows and cooler doors clean and free of fingerprints and smudges.
• Clean shelves, countertops, and gas pumps to ensure they remain clean at all times.
• Clean restroom and ensure there is tissue and hand-drying equipment per schedule outlined by the Store Manager.
• Empty trash receptacles on a timely basis.
 
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB:
 
Note:  These factors constitute "essential functions" of the job.
• Greet customer with a smile and provide them with prompt, courteous service.
• The ability to hear, speak, read, understand, and write the English language at the eighth grade level. 
• Must be able to withstand standing upright for up to 8 hours at a time.
• The ability to perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth grade level in order to make change, complete shift reports, and account for numbers of a variety of products during a vendor check-in.
