The Nursing Assistant is to render good service to the resident in the form of nursing care.
Essential Job Functions
Clean patient equipment and resident's personal care and grooming items per established procedure
Ensure residents closets, bedside stands, drawers, and closets are clean, orderly and odor free
Complete admission inventory of clothing and belongings including labeling
Distribute personal laundry
Monitor and replenish resident care articles
Answer call lights and provide non-care giving tasks; i.e., change TV, open windows, adjust articles within patients reach
Relay requests for actual care assistance to nursing staff
Transport residents to meals, activities, care conferences
Assist with passing trays in the dining room and to residents who do not require feeding assistance.
Report the following to the Charge Nurse and the care giving team as appropriate and/or document according to policy and procedure: a significant change in a resident's condition, a change in a resident's vital signs or weight, any accidents and injuries, any changes in a resident's skin integrity, behavioral changes, signs of resident depression or anxiety, changes in a resident's ambulation status, the level of the resident's food consumption, and the resident's intake of food and liquids as well as the resident's output, when indicated
Participate in collecting data needed for the accurate completion of the MDS and the plan of care
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must within four (4) months of employment have completed State required training and a competency evaluation program
- Must be State certified after four (4) months of employment
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
- Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information
- Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families and other employees at all levels
