Quality Technician - Full-time / Part-time

Position Description:
Often manufacturing professionals see that many measurements are taken during production, but often on an ad hoc basis, sometimes even too many, & in the wrong places. This may lead to a false sense of safety. Only later, it may turn out that flawed product runs & problems during production have been driving costs up.
Quality control (QC) can play a vital role in avoiding this. It is primarily focused on control (predictable production), but if properly organized & used, quality control can also provide a basis for continuous improvement - in particular a steady reduction of variation. A structured quality control approach is part of SPM’s successful manufacturing process & provides better control of our production process.
•    Approves incoming materials
o    By confirming specifications; conducting visual & measurement tests; rejecting & returning unacceptable materials.
•    Approves in-process production
o    By confirming specifications; conducting visual & measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
•    Approves finished products
o    By confirming specifications; conducting visual & measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
•    Documents inspection results
o    By completing reports & logs; summarizing re-work & waste; inputting data into quality database.
•    Keeps measurement equipment operating
o    By following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
•    Maintains safe and healthy work environment
o    By following standards & procedures; complying with legal regulations.
•    Updates job knowledge
o    By participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
•    Accomplishes quality & organization mission
o    By completing related results as needed.
