Emphasis in this position is assisting the Service Operations Manager with supervision of front end policies and procedures, cashier performance, labor control and customer relations. Primary learning challenge is in labor scheduling and understanding bookkeeping procedures as well as reviewal of management reports. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

* Demonstrates teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant working and shopping environment.

* Assists in supervising Front End activity to ensure positive customer relations and accurate, prompt checkout.

* Effectively communicates department priorities, policies and procedures and delegates accordingly.

* Provides friendly and efficient customer service by demonstrating sincerity, patience and respect in all customer interactions.

* Throughout the store, greets customers in a genuine and friendly manner. Learns customer names and uses them respectfully in greetings.

* Assists customers throughout the store by:

* Escorting them to products they are looking for

* Loading or unloading heavy items and assisting with products that are out of reach

* Offering product and/or recipe suggestions and recommendations

* Responding to customers' questions and requests in a timely manner

* Treating them as the most important people in the store

* Sincerely thanks customers for their business and choosing our store.

* Ensures correct product handling and scanning techniques.

* Ensures adherence to Company policy:

* Ensures proper handling of all forms of tender and coupons

* Ensures price checks are obtained and scan error forms are completed as necessary

* Authorizes check cashing

* Ensures Front End cleanliness and organization to include filling bags and keeping Front End clear of shopping carts.

* Administers store audit policies.

* Ensures proper etiquette is used for telephone and intercom calls.

* Assists in developing and implementing weekly work plan for Front End staff. Monitors plan to make Front End coverage adjustments based on customer volume.

* Assists in performing Front End personnel functions:

* Conducts or supervises training and assesses training needs

* Recommends associates for advancement or special recognition

* Recommends disciplinary action

* Communicates and works with Store Director or Human Resources, as appropriate to above functions in absence of Service Operations Manager.

* Assists with reviewing reports and taking appropriate action:

* Reviews weekly management report, store grading and scanning reports

* Reviews voids and refunds for proper authorization and handling

* Checks accuracy of bookkeeping reports and deposits

* Maintains NSF check file

* Maintains inventory control for accounting

* Reviews all daily cashier exception reports

* Assists in supervising Front End security procedures:

* Ensures associates know and are able to implement emergency procedures

* Ensures proper authorization for admittance to security areas

* Ensures security tape is applied as necessary for proof of purchase

* Performs random cashier coupon audits

* Assists in monitoring Front End safety:

* Observes for unsafe conditions, ensures accidents are reported immediately and ensures Front End personnel are properly trained in safety procedures and guidelines

* Reports and ensures all defective equipment is repaired

REQUIREMENTS: * Demonstrated experience leading cashiers and customer service staff providing the highest level of service satisfaction.
