Our Prepared Foods department offers customers healthy, affordable meal solutions throughout the entire day. In this position, you’ll and prepare a variety of Wegmans core entrée and side dishes, while educating our customers about the exceptional ingredients and products we offer. How do I make a difference?




Providing incredible, knowledge based, customer service
  • Effectively handle a variety of tasks including preparing quality products, assisting customers at the Chef’s Case, answering any questions they have about products and offering suggestions and solutions to help complete their meals
  • Utilize resources to increase knowledge of products and practices by connecting with team leaders and department managers and recognizing how featured items and themes tie into the department, particularly regarding Menu magazine


Ensuring high quality products and ingredients
  • Follow Wegmans core recipes, cooking techniques, and proper knife skills to prepare a variety of items and produce a consistent outcome that meets Wegmans standards of quality
  • Set up and maintain Chef’s Case, ensure products are well-merchandised to reflect Menu magazine themes and showcase quality and freshness, seek out additional tasks/responsibilities when needed
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure all items on the daily production list are made and use resources such as WISE and MORIS to make effect decisions, while work is being completed efficiently
  • Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Possess culinary knife skills
  • Experience working as a Cook III or pantry cook/ apprentice cook
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts
  • Experience working as a line cook
  • Customer service experience preferably in a food service, restaurant, grocery or retail setting


Work Environment
  • Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive hand and are movements, bending and reaching
  • Responsible for moving and lifting 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely
  • Will spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
  • May be exposed to various allergens and work environments, including temperature changes

Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

Days/Hours Requirement: Candidate to be available Sunday through Saturday, 6am - 11pm. Candidate must be available to work five 8 hour shifts.
