Responsibilities:

Encompass Home Health & Hospice is searching for a Chaplain with hospice experience to join our team. The right person for this role will have hospice experience, be ordained, and be certified in Clinical Pastoral Education.

Responsibilities include:

* Support the bereavement program by providing direct spiritual support and/or counsel to patients and families.

* Implement and coordinate all activities of the Hospice's spiritual services program and the delivery of spiritual services to patients and families.

* Work with staff, clergy and community groups to enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual needs of patients and families.

* Provide consultation and education for patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

* Provide bereavement follow-up services.

* Make contact with clergy or appropriate representatives of patient and families.

* Perform occasional liturgical assignments such as the annual Service of Remembrance and monthly memorial service when indicated.

Qualifications:

* Required - Must be an individual who by ordination or by ecclesiastical endorsement from the individual's denomination that has been approved to function in a pastoral capacity.

* Required - He/she may also be an individual who has received certification in Clinical Pastoral Education which meets the requirements for the College of Chaplains.

* Must have demonstrated ability to be open, sensitive, flexible and ecumenical.

* Must have demonstrated experience in working with patients/families dealing with life-threatening illness and death.

* Must possess knowledge of the working environment of a home health and hospice agency, including performing services in a client's home.

* Must have effective communication skills.
