Position Purpose

Cargill Global Edible Oils NA has an exciting opportunity available for a Category Planner within our Commercial Team.

This position will work closely with the GEOS NA Commercial team in Minneapolis, the Cargill Foodservice Sales team, the Cargill Sysco corporate account leadership team and Sysco's Category Director for oils.This position is a key contributor to our overall success with Sysco since GEOS NA is the designated category captain as a supplier for oils. This role will be responsible for developing and creating reports within the Sysco reporting system that help to drive category performance and identify target opportunities. This fact based analysis will help direct and support the CFNA sales team and Sysco's category director to manage the category by securing sales growth and identifying and dollarizing opportunities. The category planner will also conduct ad-hoc analysis on Sysco's oils sales data. The role will work with the GEOS NA commercial team to identify and drive assortment needs, track item performance and participate in product cuttings at Sysco corporate headquarters.

The business produces shortenings and frying oils, for the foodservice industry. Customers include major food manufacturers, broad-line distributors, and quick service and casual dining restaurant chains. Non-food industrial applications include ingredients for paint, candles and biodiesel manufacturing. The business operates seven oil refineries, five shortening and oil packaging plants. These operations are located in California, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina and Ohio. The business is integrated with Cargill's soybean crushing activities, which offer crude soybean oil for further processing.

Principal Accountabilities

60% Pull data. Run reports. Track item/market results. Track compliance to the established item assortment. Facilitate item conversion reporting. Ad-hoc analysis (fundamentals of category management).

20% Communicate weekly reporting to sales and category director, participate in category planner knowledge sharing meetings at Sysco corporate. Establish network with Sysco corporate analytics team.

10% Conduct NPD Market gap analysis and Competitive Assessment with data provided.

10% Coordinate samples and participate in product cuttings and meetings at Sysco corporate.

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree or higher Minimum of 5 years of trading, merchandizing, food ingredient sales, or comparable B2B sales/business development experience. 2 years experience in product/category management or financial analysis Experience gaining customer perspectives, uncovering needs, & building strong customer relationships. Deep and practical business acumen and understanding of downstream implications of decisions. Proactive in sharing information and building alignment to execute on opportunities Results driven, effective problem solving skills, & strong execution capacity. Proven ability to behave in accordance with Cargill values and ethics Strong willingness to serve -- Customer focus Strong strategic thinking skills Strong analytical skills Great attention to detail and accuracy Ability to build relationships internal and external Strong problem solving skills Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office - Excel

PREFERRED

Graduate degree or MBA Category management training or certification Refrigerated Protein experience in the Food service or retail markets Knowledge of the oil industry Knowledge of the Cargill Food Service team structure
