Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: A shift leader is a first level supervisor/manager in our restaurants. The Shift Lead contributes to Shakey's success by having a "team leader" hands-on involvement in the day-to-day restaurant operations. The Shift Lead effectively leads a shift while ensuring restaurant operational excellence. The Shift Lead may be responsible for the opening or closing procedures of the restaurant in coordination with or in the absence of the Assistant Manager or General Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

* Consistently practice Shakey's Signature Service Standards to ensure a quality Shakey's experience.

* Open and close the restaurant with responsibility for cash handling, assisting with receiving products, monitoring prep levels and restaurant cleanliness.

* Effectively leads the restaurant during a shift to ensure that excellent restaurant operations are consistently achieved.

* Lead each shift by delegating duties, assigning specific tasks and ensuring team members are prepared for each day.

* Follow Shakey's USA operational policy and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety/security, to ensure the safety of all team members and guests during each shift.

* Responsible for the training and development of team members.

* Acts with integrity, honesty and leadership that promotes Shakey's values.

* Assist in ensuring compliance with all labor laws, policies and procedures, and labor management costs to include proper execution of meal and rest periods. Notifies supervisor of any violations immediately via appropriate channels.

* Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant and ensure proper set up and breakdown of the entire restaurant including dining room, restrooms, kitchen and prep areas.

* Ensure daily, weekly, monthly logs are maintained (Open, Mid, Close checklist, Waste Log, Food Safety and Sanitation Checklist, Dough Usage, Critical Observations, Safety and Security and any other checklists deemed necessary to the successful operations of the restaurant).

* Ability to manage time effectively while meeting all job responsibilities.

* Check food quality and food temperatures throughout the day to maintain company and HACCP rules and regulations.

* Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality and follows Restaurant Manager/Supervisor code of conduct.

* Cross train in all other FOH and BOH positions and provide support to those work stations as needed.

* Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by your supervisor/manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees Team Members in the restaurant and is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of the restaurant during their shift. The Shift Lead supervises and leads direct reports to comply with the organization's policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations. Supervisory responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, ensure meal and rest periods, motivate staff, notes performance discrepancies/policy violations during shift, addresses complaints and resolves problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * 2 years of quick serve/fast casual restaurant or retail operations experience.

* Experienced in a training role.

* Flexible schedule; evenings and weekends a must.

* Minimum age: 21

* Previous leadership experience preferred.

* Detail and action oriented.

* Demonstrates integrity, trust, ethics and values.

* Basic computer literacy and 10-key ability.

* Good verbal and written communication skills.

* Must be able to follow all safety, health and sanitation procedures.

* Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.

* Must complete certification process successfully.

* Must be able to take direction and delegate responsibilities effectively.

* Must be able to maintain command of their shifts.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time. Ability to work with restaurant equipment (dough machine, ovens, fryers, knives, pots and pans, etc.). Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, grasping, pinching, smelling, tasting, reaching/lifting above shoulders in a repetitive manner, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Ability to work with cleaning solutions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
