This individual will support Marketing in completing group experience retention illustrations and address questions on request for proposals. The underwriter will analyze health benefit plan characteristics and assess risks around loss of clients. They will also utilize underwriting criteria and policies to provide proper rating methodologies. This individual will provide technical subject matter expertise to the sales staff and district offices on new health care proposals. This individual will conduct Participation and Eligibility audits to in - force groups to ensure the group continues to meet the definition of a small employer as defined by their benefit contract. Audits performed verify both group and member level eligibility, and take into account factors including; group and individual risk, common ownership, PEO, and business segment.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct audit and reconcile tax documents for group and member level eligibility on all audit criteria including large and complicated cases.
Communicate regularly / build strong relationships with RAE, inside sales, financial underwriters, customer service, and agents in regard to case status and issues regarding the audits
Interpret Group Policies, COCs, legislative and compliance regulations
Maintain reporting and tracking database for assigned groups
Ability to meet TAT and productivity goals set by management
Maintain current knowledge and understanding of HIPAA, ARRA and PHI regulations
Takes initiative to identify and resolve issues

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

4 year degree or 5+ years equivalent work experience in health insurance and / or underwriting and / or auditing
Knowledge of Small Business requirements
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize
Ability to work independently and as a team
Exhibits strong attention to detail
Ability to identify and lead best practices
Exhibits ability to identify and resolve problems
Working knowledge of the PRIME system
Understands how the risk management function supports the company’s goals, mission statement, and strategic objectives, and recognizes how other departments interrelate
Knowledge of Healthcare Industry and Products
Ability to meet TAT and productivity goals set by management
