We are searching for bright and talented professionals to join our world-class security team in Riverwood, Illinois!

The Special Response Officer position is responsible for filling in for our existing employees when they go on vacation, take a personal day, call in sick, etc. These officers are thoroughly trained at each site they are expected to work at prior to being assigned to a post. This position can either be part-time or full-time and candidates must be able to pick up shifts any day of the week for first shift (6am - 2pm), second shift (2pm - 10pm), or third shift (10pm - 6am) periods as your schedule changes weekly. We are looking for intelligent, courteous individuals with a friendly attitude, professional demeanor, great customer service skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.

The person(s) chosen for this position will be expected to:
  • Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment (CCTV); inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry
  • Obtain help by sounding alarms and following the procedure specific to each client site
  • Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers
  • Complete Daily Activity Reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities while on post
  • Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and as expressed by the client and Whelan

Qualifications

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • At least 21 years of age or older
  • Demonstrate a stable work history
  • Pass an extensive background screening which includes, but is not limited to, criminal background checks (local, state and federal), drug test, aptitude tests, skills assessment, interviews, and personality profile (behavioral assessment)
  • A Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) is not required to apply, but candidates must be eligible to obtain one. Our staff will be happy to help you with that process!


Education

Candidates must meet the following educational requirements:
  • Possess at least a high school education or equivalent (GED)
