GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Potwasher properly washes and stores all pots, pans, and utensils in the proper manner for the restaurant. Maintains the three-compartment sink and sink area in a sanitary and efficient manner.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Scrapes all pots and pans prior to washing.
  • Washes pots and pans by hand using prescribed amounts of soap and sanitizer. Ensures that all food, grease and residue are removed. Changes water as needed for best results.
  • Checks completed work for compliance with standards.
  • Ensures items are air dried before storing. Stores in a neat fashion and rotates stock so all items are used regularly.
  • Keeps pot and pan storage racks clean, including surrounding floors and walls.
  • Exercises initiative in helping keep area clean and help keep trash off the floor and out of the kitchen as situation dictates.
  • Assists with daily and weekly pot station cleaning duties as assigned by the Restaurant Cleaning Program.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by a manager.

  • Ability to communicate in the primary language of the workplace desirable.
  • Good visual ability required to identify sanitation concerns and to read labels.
  • Ability to read and comprehend chemical labels, training and instruction.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at waist level throughout an 8 to 12 hour shift

Continuous exposure to several disagreeable elements of factors such as:

  • Exposure to temperature extremes from hot water
  • Standing and continuously active for an 8 to 12 hours shift
  • Exposure to wet and slippery floors
  • Exposure to excessive noise levels
  • Frequent lifting, grasping, carrying, bending, crouching, and reaching
