Position Purpose:

Department Supervisors support three primary store priorities: Customers First, In Stock, and Store Appearance. Department Supervisors support Customers First by providing fast, thorough, and friendly service to customers. Department Supervisors interact with customers by welcoming them to the store, assessing their project needs, answering questions, and making purchasing recommendations.
Department Supervisors support In Stock initiatives by assessing stock levels of product within their department, restocking, and ordering new items as necessary. Department Supervisors support the Store Appearance priority by ensuring the department aisles promote a shopping environment that is appealing and safe. Additionally, Department Supervisors oversee associates, ensure they are properly trained, provide them feedback, and perform performance reviews. By supporting these three priorities, Department Supervisors drive sales to support department and store goals. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards & unsafe conditions or reporting conditions to the Manager On Duty, and working safely as not to endanger themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.

KEY RESPONISBILITIES AND TASKS:

Actively seek out customers, offer a friendly greeting, smile and make eye contact
Help customers locate merchandise
Ask customers open-ended questions and listen to responses about their projects and product needs
Describe features and benefits of merchandise as well as steps involved in completing projects
Demonstrate product and services knowledge in answering customer questions
Troubleshoot customer problem and provide advice to address the problem
Balance inventory and supervisory tasks with serving customers
Thank customers for shopping at Home Depot
Support direct reports' customer service delivery by answering questions, special ordering products, and assisting
customers
Train and provide feedback on direct reports' customer service delivery

Maintain stock on a daily basis to ensure products are available
Keep up on status of out of stocks and when product will be shipped
Review Ads to ensure items are in stock
Perform light packdown and packout process to fill in stock and restock returns
Review merchandise presentation, signing and pricing daily and escalate issues to Supervisor
Clean and dust displays, products, tools and shelves
Maintain showroom integrity and assist with minor resets, cross-merchandising as necessary
Oversee associates as they perform their daily tasks
Monitor daily schedule to ensure adequate coverage; ensure associates can take their breaks at the scheduled times
Support associates by assisting with tasking and customer service
Observe associates and provide feedback on performance
Ensure that associates have the time and resources to complete required training
Perform performance reviews twice per year
Know store sales goals and set personal goals to support store results
Sell the whole project by suggesting related items and services to purchase that supplement a customer's
merchandise or project needs
Refer customer to Sales Specialist when needed
Develop knowledge of competitor pricing, and makes decisions on markdowns to satisfy customers
Give feedback to IMAs and SM about what is selling
Communicate to Freight Team and IMAs about out-of-stocks
Follow up on job quotes to complete the sale
Promote services offered at Tool Rental and the Pro Desk
Safety:  

Follow all Safety Policies & Standards
Immediately correct unsafe conditions or notify Manager on Duty
Ensure that aisles and walking surfaces are safe
Offer assistance to customers who are shopping in an unsafe manner
Review displays and overheads for safe display/storage of tools and merchandise
Adhere to major and minor work rule policies regarding safety detailed in the Code of Conduct

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
EDUCATION REQUIRED -
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 1 
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES -

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving merchandise and tools
Responding to public address system announcements, including customer services calls, pages, and general information
Operating a computer to generate contracts, invoices, ordering parts etc.
Moving around the store and be able to assist customers
Identifying and reading reports, tickets and UPC labels


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be 18 years or older

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
2+ years supervisory experience
2+ years retail experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -

Associates may encounter an uneven walking surface due to temporary cracks in the floor
Associates may handle merchandise, supplies, and tools with sharp edges or that contain hazardous materials
Associates may have exposure to dust, gas fumes emitted by power equipment, and noise
Associates may be exposed to external weather conditions, drafts and interior temperature changes, and slippery floors
