Our client, a growing and reputable forwarder near JFK is currently in immediate need of an experienced Customs Entry Writer.
The successful candidate MUST have 5 years' minimum of related experience. The ability to classify commodities is required. Experience with wearing apparel is a huge +
Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Classify goods according to HTS; clarification and valuation of merchandise
- Prepare and process import documentation according to customs regulations
- Clear goods through customs and arrange delivery to destination for clients
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
- Confer with officials in various agencies to facilitate clearance of foods through customs and other government agencies
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a related role required
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Accurate data-entry skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proven organizational skills
- Familiar with industry standard computer programs and computer software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
Salary is contingent upon prior experience
