SUMMARY: Responsible for generating revenue by conducting sales transactions with guests in a variety of indoor and outdoor Merchandise locations throughout Universal Orlando property and other company owned or leased venues. Individuals are also responsible for upholding Universal Orlando’s guest/customer service standards, interacting positively with guests in a friendly and courteous manner, and maintaining their respective service area including the replenishment of supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide an interactive guest experience through the utilization of suggestive sales techniques and product demonstrations in a positive and outgoing manner.
  • Process merchandise sales and returns using a cash register; Wrap and bag merchandise; Handle cash, credit card transactions, travelers’ checks and discounts.
  • Stock and retrieve merchandise and supplies.
  • Maintain sales floor or carts appearance standards by cleaning floor surface, dusting counters and displays using cloths, brooms, brushes and/or cleaning agents.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required: 

  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.  
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Six months to one year retail experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) stand; walk; talk or hear; and use hands and fingers to, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) reach with hands and arms. 
  • Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; color vision; and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:

  • Support an outdoor retail location.
  • Be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Be exposed to a moderate to loud noise level work environment.
