The Right Stuff

  • Bachelor’s degree from four year college or university AND 4 to 6 years of relevant experience and/or combination of relevant experience
  • Experience in grassroots or retail marketing is required.
  • Understanding of business financials, including ROI, CPA and Net Present Value is required
  • Experience in multicultural marketing and event marketing a plus
  • Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with senior executives and other business units to form strong cross org and cross enterprise wide relationships
  • Excellent MS Excel and MS Powerpoint skills desirable
  • Able to work independently and proactively identifying issues and raising them to management, as well as offering potential solutions.
  • Strong collaborative/ team work skills; a problem solver with a results orientation

The Role

We are seeking a passionate, energetic and flexible individual to join our International Business Unit as a Grassroots Marketing Manager.  Our team operationalizes, markets, and sells international programming packages, available in over 20 language groups, within the United States. 

 

The Grassroots Marketing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all strategies and tactics designed to acquire new International customers via local retail and grassroots marketing channels both DISH and Sling TV.  Retail and indirect sales is a well-established channel for our traditional DISH business and an enthusiastic grassroots and/or retail marketer is required to lead our efforts and help build and grow a team, while activating a new marketing channel for Sling.  This position will report to the Director of International Marketing.

 

The scope of the role may include but isn’t limited to developing retail merchandising and brand strategies and designing local marketing amplification plans to increase acquisition opportunities among our targeted language groups within our key DMA’s.  S/he will work cross functionality across the enterprise with key stakeholders from relevant business groups to ensure all business unit requirements are met, and initiatives can be launched without business disruption.

 

S/he should be comfortable working autonomously in a fast paced environment, taking the initiative, managing multiple reporting requirements and relationships with key stakeholders, and working to find creative solutions as needed.

 

 

The Responsibilities

  • Lead development of International grassroots strategy and tactics across both DISH and Sling
  • Hire and manage a team of in-market grassroots marketing staff to lead local marketing efforts in key DMA’s.
  • Define and manage team to KPI’s:  retail sales, CPA, SAC, engagement and reach (paid & unpaid).
  • Works with the brand and sales team on establishing retail branding, merchandising, and events.
  • Manage the local media buy (print, radio, theater, billboards) with the agencies across both businesses.
  • Own the inventory/storage process on grassroots premiums, retailer pop/merchandising, and events item.   
  • Works with the digital team in designing and delivering a local digital plan to pre-established KPI’s (reach, engagement, activations, CPA and SAC.
  • Work with the analytic team to continuously improve data tools on refining customer data for local/grassroots marketing
  • Coordinates communication and activities between sales and marketing organizations.
  • Owns event and local marketing agency relationships.
  • Own cross-functional relationships with local retail sales team and supporting personnel.
  • Lead organizational understanding of available retail products and offerings.
