Position Description:

As part of the Ryder IT team, the Business Intelligence and Analytics Intern (BIA) will perform a variety of job functions, including but not limited to, operational and analytical database design, data profiling/analysis, database & ETL development, testing, documentation, and production environments support including troubleshooting and break fixes. The position could be extended past the summer internship period and may lead to a temporary position.

Requirements:

* Associate's degree

* Minimum of four (4) semesters of college or university completed and must be currently enrolled in a management information systems (MIS) or computer science curriculum

* Graduate student with a bachelor's degree in management information systems (MIS) , computer science or computer engineering preferred

* Certificate in database programming or business intelligence completed or in progress preferred

* Exposure to SQL, database programming, database appliances and ETL tools like Informatica or Data Stage preferred

* Must be self-motivated, results-oriented and accountable

* Excellent interpersonal skills

* Good organizational skills

* Ability to:

* Write SQL queries

* Learn new technologies and tools, bring new ideas to the team and be an effective team player

* Effectively communicate with management and co-workers and customers; strong customer focus

* Work well under pressure, successfully meet schedules, work independently to produce high quality work with minimal supervision

* Operate as part of a cross-functional project team that will organize, plan and execute varying scale projects from vision to implementation

* Knowledge of:

* Data Warehouse Dimensional model structures, including facts and dimensions preferred

* Information technologies

* Windows, MS Office, MS Excel, Access (advanced level)

Responsibilities:

* Analyze and document data requirements including facilitation of sessions with business database testing and data profiling

* ETL source to target documentation including business matrix and functional requirements

* Develop ETL processes

* Troubleshoot ETL and data issues

* SQL troubleshooting

* Understand that the end user is the primary reason for the technology and therefore strive for full customer satisfaction

* Partner with key members of various departments to determine the definitions of essential data elements

* Design and write the scripts required, ensuring the business intelligence or reporting application is reporting the data correctly

* Support the designs' logical and physical data warehouse models

* Support the mapping of source system data to data warehouse models

* Define and capture metadata and rules associated with the calculation of metrics

* Perform other duties as assigned
