Directs and coordinates domestic and international traffic activities of organization and the Shipping Department by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Responsibilities
Develops methods and procedures for transportation of inbound and outbound freight.
Arrange and schedule all outbound shipments with customers and truck carriers based on established guidelines.
Provide clear and accurate communications to all suppliers, carriers, and departments regarding the status of inbound and outbound freight.
Determines most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation.
Manage freight claims process and negotiations with carriers.
Negotiation of rates and maintain carrier relationships.
Initiates investigations into causes of damages or shortages in consignments or overcharges for freight or insurance.
Conducts studies in areas of packaging, warehousing, and loading of commodities and evaluates existing procedures and standards.
Initiates changes designed to improve control and efficiency of shipping department.
Negotiates contracts for leasing of transportation equipment or property.
Assists in preparing department budget.
Manages one subordinate supervisor who supervises the Shipping Department.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
A minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion.
Strong analytical skills, maturity, and "emotional intelligence".
Ability to handle stressful issues in a calm manner and maintain a positive approach
Exceptional communication skills both oral and written. The individual must speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and able to write routine reports and correspondence.
