Description
  • The purpose of a Plant Management Trainee is to further develop the interpersonal and team management skills required to become an effective team leader and to develop an understanding of the production process, management controls and operations of a production department.
  1. Functions as an assistant to department management.
  2. Develops an understanding of the department's function to include administrative, manpower reports, disciplinary procedures, budget, production processes and requirements.
  3. Develops an understanding of the team process using the criteria: common mission/goals of all team members; clear role definition of team members; the work of the team is structured so as to encourage shared accountabilities; effective team procedures and processes such as giving and receiving feedback, problem solving, decision making, coaching and communications are established; team members have a winning "spirit"; and innovative and certain recognition is used for team accomplishments.
  4. Implements the policies of the Quality Improvement Process with the team/department.
  5. Monitors the performance of the team to ensure goals are attained and graphs results for display and presentation at briefings and/or meetings.
  6. Develops communication skills to increase self awareness by analyzing one's own communication styles and preferences and their effect on working relationships and productivity; be able to select appropriate communications techniques to apply to specific on-the-job situations; builds skills in influencing others in positive constructive ways that ensures high quality agreements, effective working relationships and improved productivity; identifies and understands the effects of organizational barriers to effective communications and do action planning on ways to resolve on-the-job communications problems.
  7. Rotates during the course of training through the Hatcheries, Feed Mills, Growout, Live Haul, Wastewater, Accounting, Human Resources, Receiving, Dressing, Evisceration, Giblet Packing, Grading, Cut Up, Stretch Bag, Deboning, 28 Degree Cooler, Box Room, Weight/Price/Label and Shipping departments.
  • Must have Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
