Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:30am – 7:00pm – EST

Primary Responsibilities:


Interprets physicians' prescriptions and creates orders, accesses, inputs, and retrieves prescription information from the computer system and verifies whether the order is reimbursable
Consults with customers, patients and/or physicians regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions
Conducts Quality Assurance and verifies the accuracy of all prescriptions
Handles drug utilization review calls
Reviews and approves/denies requests for prescription prior authorizations
Analyzes and investigates concerns
Provides explanations and interpretations within area of expertise
Follow clinical guidelines set by plan and evaluates patient history in making clinical decision
Participating in a voluntary and/or mandatory overtime schedule

Requirements


Required Qualifications:

Pharmacist license in good standing in the state of Virginia
BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degree
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Pharmacist in retail, a hospital, or managed care setting
Microsoft Word and Outlook with the ability to navigate a Windows environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Managed Care experience
Prior authorization experience
Independent, motivated worker
Strong clinical background and knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
