Charter Spectrum's New York City region is currently seeking a Construction Tech 4 to join our Construction Department.
Essential Job Function
Essential Job Function
- Will be expected to construct and maintain the outside plant, including aerial, underground, and block wire construction.
- Daily routine would include pole transfers, damage repair and correction of utility space violations, plant rearrangement, and construction of plant extensions.
- Must be able to manage jobs using corporate tools while reporting/documenting details and status updates to coordinators and senior leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Skills / Experience Required:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of technical experience or Net+ certification.
- Must have a valid driver’s license from either: NY, NJ, CT or PA along with a clean driving record.
- Must be able to work with various hand tools such as electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
- Knowledge of CATV required.
- Ability to work with a laptop and/or mobile device (use and manage work with software tools)
- Required to work in confined spaces (manholes, vaults, etc.) as well as on ladders or buckets
- Must to able to read and interpret maps and building plans.
- Able to prioritize while working in a fast paced environment.
- Must successfully complete all company required training.
- Will also be required to work overtime, weekends and late shifts as needed.
Education Required:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions, which could be extreme hot or cold conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds. Position will also involve sitting, standing, stooping, and/or crawling.
- Ability to operate test equipment, hand tools, power tools. Such as Ohm meter, TDR, signal level meter, cable locator, screwdrivers, pliers, ladders, and two-way radio. May also operate aerial bucket trucks, air compressor and/or hydraulic winch.
- Required to drive company vehicle and may drive for long periods of time.
- Position has extensive contact with construction and technical personnel, including contractors, customers and general public
